If you enjoy the wonderful aroma of a fresh-cut Christmas tree and have a little extra room on your property, we suggest planting a few Christmas trees. It only takes a few years to grow them to 5 to 6 feet and more.
In addition to the money-saving advantages of growing your own, it's great family fun to harvested a tree together.
We are growing fir and Canaan (pronounced "Ka-naan", with emphasis on the last syllable) trees. The Canaan is a relative newcomer to the Christmas tree market. It’s very similar to Fraser and balsam firs in growth and appearance. We like the needles of the Canaan because they are much softer and stay on the tree much longer than most others.
We are also growing Douglas Fir which seem to grow a little faster here and still provide a quality Christmas tree. But we think most peole like the softer needle trees like the Fraser Fir or Canaan best.
